The safety orange color helps one to recognize the hose is on the floor to help prevent trip and falls. The hose is crush proof so if you happen to run over it you dont need to worry. Industry standard central vacuum inlet valves are 1.50 on the inside diameter. The hose end going to these inlets measure 1.50 on the outer diameter with a slight taper to get a good snug fit.
